IPL 2022: Team of the tournament

IPL 2022 got ended on 29th May 2022. with Gujarat Titans winning an IPL trophy in their debut season. These season teams were increased to 10 from 8. Both new teams entered playoffs and top teams of IPL Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders were have season to forget.

To sum up, it was a fantastic season, where more than 1,000 sixes were hit. We got good Indian bowlers who could bowl faster than 140kmph. In addition to this, some Indian talented batsmans shown their class and made them contender to play for India in future.

Openers

Jos Buttler and KL Rahul

Best batsman of tournament with 863 runs in 17 innings with 4 hundreds to his name. Jos Buttler carried Rajasthan Royals through out the tournament and played a massive role in taking them to finals. Buttler got player of the tournament award and also finished with highest runs of runs in tournament.

Buttler scored 45 sixes in IPL 2022 which is highest by a batsman this season.

KL Rahul finished the season as 2nd highest run-scorer with 616 runs in 15 innings at an average of 51.33. Rahul scored 2 hundreds in tournament. Rahul played the role of anchor and finisher for Lucknow Super Ginats and always led the team by front with bat. LSG skipper finished 5th consecutive season with 400+ runs in IPL.

Rahul Tripathi

Another good season for top-order batsman. Rahul Tripathi at No 3 played some match winning knocks for Sunrisers Hyderabad. Rahul was best batsman for SRH after Abhishek Sharma. Tripathi scored 413 runs in 14 innings at an average of 37.55. Deepak Hooda can also be our No 3 batsman but Tripathi’s strike rate of 158 gives him the No 3 position here.

Hardik Pandya(c)

IPL winning Captain, Hardik Pandya looked the best captain this season. Hardik led the team by front and also stood up whenever the team needed him the most. Pandya promoted himself at No 4 and played very responsible cricket. Pandya finished the season with 487 runs in 15 innings.

Hardik used his players very well this season. He allowed every player to play freely. In final, Hardik Pandya took 3 key wickets and scored 34 runs for which he was adjudged player of the match award.
