Tillakaratne Dilshan’s 160(124) vs India, Rajkot, 2009
First match of the 5-match odi series between India & Sri Lanka. SL won the toss & opt to bowl on a really flat wicket. India posted a huge total of 414 runs with the help of Sehwag’s 146, Sachin’s 63 & Dhoni’s 72. Chasing 415, SL were off to an excellent start as the duo of Tharanga-Dilshan was involved in a 188-runs partnership in just 24 overs.
Even after Tharanga got out, Dilshan got the support in the other end from Sangakkara who made 90(43) for himself. When Sangakkara got out, the score read 316/2 at the end of 37 overseas with still 99 runs needed of 13 overs. Dilshan scored a brilliant 160(124) which included 20 fours & 3 sixes. But as soon as he got out, Sri Lanka’s winning hope also got reduced and eventually lost the match by just 3 runs.
