Impact of CoronaVirus on Cricket

Lot of Cricket was to be played in the month of March and there were many ongoing tournaments and T20 leagues.But all stopped due to CoronaVirus.

Cricket’s Biggest T20 league,Indian Premier League was about to come as well.

Then there came CoronaVirus,which shuts down almost all of World and Cricket World as well.

Cricket has stopped for the first time since 1960.In 1960,Cricket was stopped because of the World War.But this time case is totally different.

CoronaVirus has spread all over the World and it has affected many countries and Cricket as well.

All boards slowly-slowly decided to stop the ongoing tournaments and postpone them all.

Australia vs New Zealand 1st ODI was played with empty stands due to which Cricket Australian Board suffered a loss and decided to postpone remaining two ODIs.

Players from both teams after the match refused to shake hands in that game.

The following 3-T20I series between the neighbours in New Zealand starting March 24 in Dunedin was also postponed.

South African Cricket team arrived India for playing three ODIs.First ODI got abandoned due to rain.

Later,BCCI decided to play remaining games under empty stands.As CoronaVirus gets spreading fast,BCCI decided to cancel two ODIs.

CSA also accepted the decision to postpone the tournament and Women’s Tour of Australia as well.

England’s Test tour of Sri Lanka also called off because Joe Root saying players are thinking about their families in UK.

On the other hand,ECB has decided that there will be no Cricket in England till 28th May 2020.

IPL 2020 was also to be start from 29th March,which BCCI earlier decided to be played without foreign players.

IPL 2020 got postponed because of CoronaVirus

Later,they decided to postpone the tournament to 15 April,which will be postponed again and might be played in 1st week of May.

BCCI also stopped ongoing domestic tournaments.

The Coronavirus outbreak, which has so far claimed over 5000 lives, has led to either cancellation or postponement of many sports events across the world.

Pakistan Super League for few days after decisions of other boards was played under empty stands for few days.

Then many players including Roy,Banton,Jordan,Steyn etc.decided to leave the tournament but later PSL got cancelled as well.

CoronaVirus has impacted Cricket very badly,ICC and other boards has suffered huge loss.

Loss will be for all brands,sponsors including Vivo,Star India,Sony,Byju etc.

Many new players who got a chance in the team for first time will be impacted.

As T20 World Cup to be played this year,many players cou become a headache for their selection committee by their performances.

Problems can be for MS Dhoni,Suresh Raina,Rishab Pant,Surya Yadav,Krunal Pandya etc.

It will be interesting to see when Cricket will get back.
