IPL 2020:Part 1 Review

Considering the IPL 2020 into four parts, here is look at review for first 12 games, where each team has played three games so far.

In 12 games so far, some brilliant contests has been played. In 12 games, we have seen two super overs, two Indian scoring smashing hundreds and some exceptional scenes in the field.
Although, IPL 2020 was scheduled to play in March, but got postponed due to Covid-19 pandemic and first match got played on 19th September.

Delhi Capitals

Delhi Capitals have find almost their best playing XI. Shreyas Iyer is leading from the front both with the bat and in the field. On the other hand, Kagiso Rabada is doing well with the ball and likes of Amit Mishra, Anrich Nortje and Ravichandran Ashwin are supporting Rabada well from other end.
Bowling is looking DC’s strength. With the bat top-order players Prithvi Shaw, Shimron Hetmyer,Rishabh Pant and Shikhar Dhawan needs to fire.

Kolkata Knight Riders

KKR after losing first game made a great comeback. KKR won two games easily against SRH and RR. Their bowling improved lot in next two games. Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti bowled good lines and all are among wickets as well.

In batting, Shubman Gill is showing brilliant display with the bat. KKR have lot of bowlers in the team, they can go with Rahul Tripathi at the top and Narine should bat in lower-order considering his form with the bat.

Rajasthan Royals

Rajasthan Royals is side who has played best Cricket till three games. RR won their first match without Jos Buttler and in second game they chased 225 runs without big names in batting lineup. Sanju Samson and Steve Smith has scored runs with the bat. Rahul Tewatia is looking lethal weapon in RR squad.
Jofra Archer is doing good work with the ball and with the bat as well he is smashing bowlers all over the park. Other than Archer, no bowler has shown consistency and went for runs. Ben Stokes comeback will increase both depth in batting and bowling. As excepted, Stokes will be miss 1 or 2 weeks of October.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

After long time, RCB are showing they are capable of. Addition of Devdutt and Finch have boosted RCB’s batting due to which Virat Kohli’s poor form hasn’t hurted RCB yet. AB De Villiers have scored two fifties in three games.
In bowling lineup, Virat Kohli changed bowling lineup after two games. Steyn and Umesh went for many runs they were out of third game. Sundar and Chahal are economical and among wickets. Saini has shown good signs of improvement. Their bowling may get better once Chris Morris get fit.

Kings XI Punjab

One of the weakest side of IPL 2020, has not find their balanced side yet. They are playing without Gayle to strengthen their bowling unit. Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul are highest run-scorers with 222 and 221 runs respectively. Middle-order needs to step up now.
With the bowl, Cottrell and Shami are wicket takers but lot of pressure remains on inexperienced bowlers. Ravi Bishnoi performing with the bowl are good signs for KXIP bowling.

Mumbai Indians

MI hasn’t started well having 2 losses in 3 games. Mumbai Indians have good batting and bowling unit. In previous games, Ishan Kishan and Pollard chased almost 80 off 4 overs. Now, time will be for Quinton De Kock, Hardik Pandya and Krunal Pandya to fire.

Trent Boult and James Pattinson have started well with the ball. Spin bowling and Jasprit Bumrah’s form is concern for MI. Once they get back in form, they will dominate other teams in the tournament.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Last year, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow scored 70% of SRH’s runs with the bat. But this years David Warner hasn’t batted as per his standards and strike rate of Jonny Bairstow has fallen.
Manish Pandey is showing consistency with the bat. Lower-middle order is problem for headache for SRH. In last game, Kane Williamson took them to good total. Their bowlers in 1st two games not looked in good touch. But in last game, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Kumar took 5 wickets among them. Natarajan’s improved bowling is boost in SRH’s bowling unit.

Chennai Super Kings

CSK after winning opening match against MI lost next two games. Faf Du Plessis is only batsman who is playing with responsibility. CSK is missing Raina in middle and Ambati Rayudu. Dhoni’s batting position is also putting pressure on CSK.
Chennai Super Kings are yet to find their best playing XI. Their opening pair is also sign of worry for them specially form of Shane Watson. It could be Dwayne Bravo whose return could boost bowling unit of CSK as Jadeja is not at his best.
